How do I request a book or a book chapter?
Answer
Seton Hall University Libraries have two systems for requesting books: E-ZBorrow and ILLiad. Both are accessible from our Interlibrary Borrowing page.
E-ZBorrow requests are generally ready for pick-up from our library in 3-5 days, sometimes less. Be sure to select IHS Campus from the dropdown for the pick-up location. E-ZBorrow lending is through our consortia agreement with PALCI. Loan periods are 84 days.
Due to the faster turn around time, check E-ZBorrow first. If a book is not available from E-ZBorrow you can submit a request through ILLiad. The general turn around time for books requested through ILLiad is two weeks, however if the item you are requesting is rare, it may take longer to process and receive. Please provide as complete a citation as possible, including title, author, date published or edition, and ISBN. Be sure to select IHS from the dropdown menu located next to Pickup Location.
With both systems, the items are initially processed at Walsh Library. The items will be checked out to you automatically and you will receive an email when your item is ready to be picked up. The item will be will be held at the IHS Library for 10 days. We will send a second email about pick-up after 5 days. If the item has not been picked-up after 10 days, it will be sent back to the lending library.
We cannot borrow eBooks.
Just need a chapter from a book? Submit a request through ILLiad. A digital copy of the chapter will be delivered to your ILLiad account. Please make sure to provide as complete a citation as possible, including title, author, date published or edition, and ISBN/ISSN.
